Fittings and Alterations

Couture Threads offers expert alterations performed on site at our salon in Stratford, with results guaranteed to your personal satisfaction. Dresses are ordered-in closest to your actual body size, therefore serving to minimize the overall alteration requirement and expense. We charge a competitive rate to cover the cost of providing you the service, and you will be given a written quote at the time of your first fitting. Our Bridal Alteration Specialist has more than 25 years of experience working with delicate and intricate designs. Her listening ear, patience and attention to detail will ensure you have the perfect fit.

Your gown will be tended to and handled with the utmost care and caution; it will literally be given the “white glove” treatment, so as to prevent the transfer of natural hand oils and soiling during the alterations process. The alterations room is a smoke-free, pet-free environment. Final preparations, such as steaming and pressing are paramount. When your gown and those of your bridal party leave Couture Threads, you can rest assured that every detail has been carefully taken care of and is ready for you on your special day.

Ideally, brides should start their fittings 6-12 weeks prior to the wedding. Come prepared with your shoes, crinoline, and proper undergarments. Bring someone with you for your final fitting, so that they can learn how to bustle your train. Most brides choose to pick up their gown the week of the wedding or alternatively, reduce your stress and have Couture Threads deliver it!

Mothers and bridal attendants should start 4-6 weeks ahead. Come prepared with shoes and undergarments. Have a knowledge of what hem length(s) the bride desires.

For out-of-town attendants, arrangements can be made for fittings closer to the wedding date.
